Developing Critical Thinking in Practice – The Practice Educators Role

team croppedOn the Wednesday, 24 June 2015 the National Centre for Post-Qualifying Social Work and Professional Practice were pleased to be able to host an event for Practice Educators from around the country. The event, organised by our brilliant in house team of Sarah Williams, Sarah Wincewicz and Katie Huey, offered an opportunity for practitioners to come together to discuss the issues affecting them and to participate in a variety of interactive workshops. On the day the workshops on offer proved so popular that practitioners often wanted to sign up for more than one!

Safeguarding, mental capacity and scamming FinalWe had some great speakers and facilitators at the event and some of our attendees enjoyed themselves so much they reported that it had felt like a spa day. Particular thanks go to our visiting speakers Siobhan Maclean, from Kirwin Maclean Ltd, and Jo Finch from the University of East London, and BU’s own Kate Howe and Mel Hughes. This was a great event and a pleasure to attend, we will be placing all the materials for the day on our website: www.ncpqsw.com.

We are as busy as ever here at NCPQSW, and this week we are looking forward to hosting a drinks reception in partnership with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute and The National Trading Standards Scam Team. Working together, we hope to address the exploitation of the most vulnerable members of our society that we are increasingly seeing through postal, telephone and email scamming.
