This morning The Qualifying Social Work team Team here at Bournemouth University hosted a celebratory breakfast for World Social Work Day 2015. We had a great turn out of BA (Hons) and MA Social Work students.
“World Social Work Day 2015 (WSWD) is on March 17th. The theme ‘Promoting the Dignity and Worth of Peoples’ relates to the second pillar of the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development. The theme focuses the joint work of The International Federation of Social Workers, The International Association of Schools of Social Work and The International Council on Social Welfare. The three organisations are committed to working together to influence international, regional and local policies, government actions and to highlight the value and contributions that social workers make everyday throughout the world.” (ifsw)
I was fortunate enough to be invited along to join the celebratory breakfast to take some photos and enjoy some coffee and a pastry! The event had a great turn out of both students and staff who came together to support and celebrate World Social Work Day 2015.
Richard Williams, Senior lecturer in Social Work reflected on a great turn-out commenting that the event has demonstrated “the spirit of like mindedness with shared passion to make a difference”.
